Ad account health check

Go through the list before you raise the budget. If more than five items are unclear, the account probably has waste or a tracking risk.

20 checks

Google Ads, Meta, tracking, the landing page and your working rhythm.

You can use the list without ad account access or integrations.

The checklist

Mark each item yes or no. Focus first on the items where the answer is no or unsure.

Goal and tracking

  1. The main goal is unambiguous: a call, a booking, a form, a purchase or a qualified lead.
  2. Google Ads and Meta optimise towards the same goal, not different interpretations of it.
  3. GA4/GTM or similar tracking separates a valuable lead from a general enquiry.
  4. Conversion events are active and their volume is plausible for the business.

Google Ads

  1. The keywords match the language of a customer ready to buy.
  2. Negative keywords block the obviously wasted traffic.
  3. Location settings match the real service area.
  4. The budget is not spent on campaigns with no conversions or no clear purpose.

Meta advertising

  1. The campaign objective matches the real customer journey.
  2. Frequency and click-through rate do not point to ad fatigue.
  3. The audience is precise enough for a local service but not too small to learn from.
  4. The pixel and domain settings are in order.

Landing page

  1. The first screen states the service, the area and the next action.
  2. The phone number, booking or form is easy to find on a phone.
  3. The page content matches the ad's promise and the searcher's need.
  4. Trust, price level or the scope of the service are visible before the form.

Working rhythm

  1. The account has a weekly decision rhythm, not random tweaking.
  2. Every change has a reason, an expected effect and a way back.
  3. The report states decisions and lessons, not just metrics.
  4. You own the ad accounts, the data and the access rights.

How to read the result

The list does not replace an analysis of the account data, but it finds the most common problems quickly.

0–2 unclear items

The account is probably under control. The next gains come from a rhythm of experiments and reporting.

3–5 unclear items

Start the optimisation with tracking, wasted spend and the first well-reasoned change.

6+ unclear items

Raising the budget is a risk. Request a review before the next big changes.
